London is Europe’s most congested city

London traffic jam

London is Europe’s most congested city, followed by Paris, with drivers losing 101 hours annually due to traffic delays, according to the Inrix 2024 Global Traffic Scorecard

Accounting for 50% of all UK Traffic delays, the total loss is estimated as averaging £942/driver. While this is at best an inconvenience for most drivers it causes major problems for logistics companies who are trying to make deliveries in the capitol.

Bath is the second worst UK City with 68 hours lost per annum, followed by Bristol with 65 hours and Manchester with 62 hours lost.

With so many potential delays it is vital for companies making deliveries in cities to plan their routes to take advantage of less congested times. Using delivery scheduling and route optimisation software that uses historic traffic data at any given time of day and direction of travel, is imperative.
